Which Capital One Spark Card is Right for You?

When choosing the right Spark card for you, you should first ask yourself two questions:

  • Want to earn cashback or miles?
  • Are you willing to pay the annual fee?

Answering these questions will make it easier to find the card that’s right for you: If you want cash back, choose the Spark Cash card, and if you want miles, choose the Spark Miles card.

When it comes to annual fees, the Spark card with an annual fee earns you at least 2% cash back or 2 miles per dollar on every purchase, while the card with no annual fee earns you at least 1% cash back or 1 mile per dollar. If you’re a high annual spender, we recommend choosing the card with the highest rewards rate, as you’ll likely be able to recoup the cost of the annual fee with cash back or miles earned.

Can I own more than one Capital One Spark credit card?

Yes, you can have multiple Spark cards at once. Keep in mind that you can only apply for one Capital One card every six months, so make sure to space out your applications over a reasonable period of time.

What is the Capital One Spark credit limit?

The Capital One Spark Cash has no set spending limit. For other Spark cards, credit limits vary by card but can range from $2,000 to $60,000.

What is the Capital One Spark Card?

The Capital One Spark card is either a Visa or Mastercard, depending on which card product you have.

Does Capital One Spark collect my credit information?

Capital One will check your personal credit report when you apply for the Spark card, and while TPG’s recommended credit score for most Spark cards is 740 or higher, you can get approved with a lower credit score.

If you apply for the Spark Classic* card, you’ll be approved if your credit is good enough, as this card is designed for business card beginners. The Spark Miles card also reports to your personal credit file, but the Spark Cash card does not.

What is the minimum credit limit with Capital One Spark?

According to Datapoint, the Spark Card has a minimum credit limit of $2,000. Spark Cash and Spark Miles for Business can have credit limits of up to $60,000. Note that Spark Cash Plus does not have a pre-set limit.

Similar to Capital One’s personal cards, combining two (or more) Spark cards that offer the most miles and rewards on spending can help you get the most out of your rewards strategy, and can also be a great way to separate spending and personal.

If you plan on applying for one or more of these cards, we generally recommend applying for one personal card and one with Capital One within 60 days. If you are denied, you can always call the reconsideration line to get your application approved. The Spark card can be a great value-add to your account because it is so easy and flexible to earn and redeem rewards.
